3D Reports make Simulation Results Easier to Interrogate

StampingSimulation.com, the industry’s leading provider of Pay-as-You-Go AutoForm simulation services, announces the delivery of its new 3D reporting tool, designed to make the interpretation and interrogation of sheet metal forming simulation results even easier.

The new 3D technology allows all job data to be embedded within a single Adobe Acrobat PDF document, giving customers the ability to measure, manipulate, view and extract their results within a single document, providing easy distribution to those who need it, using only the standard Acrobat Reader application.

3D reporting allows customers to view the simulation result in the same manner as a 3D CAD file, with the ability to zoom, pan, rotate, section and measure using Adobe’s latest Acrobat 3D tools. In addition, when authority is given, the simulation results and tooling data can be EXPORTED as a 3D file for use in external applications, with a simple right click all from within the 3D PDF document.

The 3D PDF format appears no different than an ordinary PDF document to the end user, except that each 3D object can be clicked to activate the 3D controls.

Furthermore, the 3D PDF format compresses the 3D data extremely efficiently meaning 3D PDF documents are often less than 1MB and usually not larger than 2MB. The complete simulation results can be emailed easily without concern for recipients mailbox limits.

Embedded AVIs can be clicked once to play or double clicked for full screen playback, without leaving the PDF viewer. 3D reporting is quoted with each new job (when a formal report is requested) and customers can elect to downgrade to the former 2D reporting style if they wish. StampingSimulation.com offers two online services, now reported in 3D:

SimulateLite®: Virtual Tryout. Test any tool or process design before committing to costly tooling fabrication. Virtual tryouts are used to identify and then eliminate forming problems such as splits, cracks and wrinkles, before tooling up.

SimulateComplete®: Process Engineering. Starting with only the final part geometry, get back a successful forming process and outputs to fast-track any sheet metal part project, including tooling surfaces, developed blank shape and more.
