Case Study - Viking Tooling 9799

autoform

Viking Tooling and StampingSimulation worked together to tool up this part successfully for Toyota Motor Corporation, Australia. As usual, the lead times were short and budgets were tight, so producing good parts at first tryout was imperative.

Simulation determined whether a full draw or a more simple forming tool was required for this part. In addition, areas of high thinning were identified and improved before any tooling steel was cut. The most beneficial result produced was an accurate re-trim profile. Without simulation, this part would have spent days or weeks in tryout, developing the correct re-trim profile.

β€œThe time spent up front in simulation paid massive dividends during tryout. Timing was tight and we spent no time at all confirming the re-trim profiles from simulation, and then cutting the trim tools. This put us bang on schedule and we delivered good parts, on time.” -Steve Hansen, Viking Tooling
