Maruti Suzuki India has denied reports suggesting usage of the Volkswagen manufacturing unit near Chakan. Volkswagen has a 19.9% stake in Japanese auto maker Suzuki. Citing current circumstances, Business Standard reported Maruti Suzuki India using VW’s unit near Pune to manufacture their own vehicles.

As MSI are short on supply, it would have been apt to use the VW unit to meet market demand but R. C. Bhargava negated all claims made by Business Standard stating that MSI is not using the VW facility for anything. Another news making rounds is that a Suzuki-VW tie up will eventually be greatly beneficial for Maruti Suzuki. Suzuki does not have technology to manufacture diesel engines above 1.3L and will be provided the same from VW. This in turn would give Maruti access card to the European market.
